If you're talking about Slack or Discord messages, it might be that the generated messages that you can't see are from a private group.
You can spot these groups in the left column of your Slack window showing a lock instead of a hashtag in front of them.
To make sure that private communication stays private, we keep these messages out of your activity feed. ☝🏼
